Andy Leyland is a self taught artist who has been exhibiting his work since 1996. His work is an attempt to convey his interest in mythology, legends, belief systems and politics, and their influence on the human psyche. He works in oil, laying it thickly on canvas in an impasto style.

He grew up in the North West of England and graduated in 1987 from The Unversity of Bath in Social Sciences, History and Philosophy. He lives and works in Manchester.
